Mais pregadores do ódio
Os crimes de ódio são definidos nos Estados Unidos pelas leis federais que os identificam como crimes violentos motivados pela orientação sexual da vítima, cor da pele, identidade de género, incapacidade ou afins. O recente Matthew Shepard Act, cujo nome honra a memória do estudante homossexual de 21 anos torturado e assassinado em 1998, deixa isso bem claro assim como deixa bem claro que a legislação não se aplica às homilias de ódio de um qualquer homofóbico em nome de Deus:
3) CONSTITUTIONAL PROTECTIONS- Nothing in this Act shall be construed to prohibit any constitutionally protected speech, expressive conduct or activities (regardless of whether compelled by, or central to, a system of religious belief), including the exercise of religion protected by the First Amendment and peaceful picketing or demonstration. The Constitution does not protect speech, conduct or activities consisting of planning for, conspiring to commit, or committing an act of violence.
(4) FREE EXPRESSION- Nothing in this Act shall be construed to allow prosecution based solely upon an individual’s expression of racial, religious, political, or other beliefs or solely upon an individual’s membership in a group advocating or espousing such beliefs.
No entanto, apesar de as diatribes religiosas estarem claramente excluídas da lei que Obama assinou em finais de Outubro, o Thomas Moor Law Group, um grupo que defende os coitadinhos e perseguidos cristãos, interpôs uma acção judicial em nome de alguns cristãos que sentem que a lei os restringe de observar a sua fé em todos os seus detalhes. 4 – Section 249(a)(2) of the Hate Crimes Act has the purpose and effect of deterring,
inhibiting, and chilling the exercise of fundamental rights by persons, including Plaintiffs, who
publicly oppose homosexual activism, the homosexual lifestyle, and the homosexual agenda,
which seeks to normalize intrinsically disordered sexual behavior that is contrary to the moral
law and harmful to the common good of society. Supporters of the homosexual agenda seek to demonize, vilify, and criminalize deeply held religious beliefs that are in opposition to their
agenda.
7 – Section 249(a)(2) of the Hate Crimes Act is an effort to eradicate religious beliefs
opposing the homosexual agenda from the marketplace of ideas by demonizing, vilifying, and criminalizing such beliefs as a matter of federal law and policy.
Tal como Timothy Kincaid, interrogo-me se esta gente é apenas uma cambada de arrogantes que se opõe aos princípios básicos das liberdades civis e da igualdade ou se na realidade são dominionistas que desejam verdadeiramente poder cumprir as injunções do seu livro sagrado e instituir uma lei tipo Sharia que os permita impôr punições bíblicas ao que percebem como pecado.
